Our scouts look forward to this week-long, large-scale campout all year long! It’s where scouting memories are made and skills are solidified. This year, we will be venturing to Camp Meriwether, on the Oregon Coast. This is one of the only Scout camps to feature an ocean beach front. It’s a truly gorgeous location in the Pacific Northwest. This camp also has a fresh-water lake, Lake Chamberlain for swimming and boating activities.  It offers many programs, including oceanography, rock-climbing, sandboarding, mountain biking, crafts, outdoor skills, shooting sports and a Trail to First Class program for newer scouts.

Note for New Scouts: Cub Scouts who plan to join the troop this spring are welcome to register for Summer Camp before they cross over. We are not able to hold spots, so if you know someone who is not yet a member, but who plans to join us for Summer Camp, please encourage them to register now.

Eligibility Requirements: Any Troop 571 registered scout who is 11 – 17 years old.

Parent Meeting: DATE TBD – we’ll soon be scheduling a meeting to help everyone understand all the DOs and DON’Ts of Summer Camp. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please address them to our volunteer coordinator Mr. Nathaniel Blue via the Scoutbook email system (preferred) or personal email (below).

Medical Forms: Every scout and adult leader attending camp will need Medical Forms A, B and C, which requires a physical, to be able to participate in camp. Form C needs to be signed by a doctor and dated no earlier than 8/17/23  (if the form is dated on or prior to 8/17/23, it won’t be accepted). Get your appointments with your doctor now so you are not waiting until the last minute and end up having to pay a lot more at Urgent Care. Medical Forms (A, B and C) are available at the top of our Forms Page.

Adult Leaders: If you are a trained leader and you are interested in attending for any part of the week, please sign up via the Troop Store. There is no cost for an adult leader to attend camp. We would like to have at least 10 leaders for 571. Priority will go to adults who are able to stay for the entire week, however we encourage any interested adults to sign up. Leaders who are fully trained Assistant Scoutmasters and/or Committee Members will get priority if we have an abundance of adults sign up. This is an amazing way to spend time with your Scout and help all our scouts grow in the troop and in scouting.

FAQ

My scout wants to attend camp, however we are worried we cannot afford it. What are our options?

If you have financial hardship and have not had the opportunity to participate in fundraising or earn Scout Shares, there are scout scholarships available. Download the Financial Aid Application and follow the instructions for consideration.

I think my scout has some Scout Shares. How do I use them to help pay for Summer Camp?

We prefer that Scout Shares are used over other payments, if that is an option for your scout. Please contact our Treasurer at derektiplin@gmail.com to inquire about your scout’s current Scout Shares balance.

When using Scout Shares to pay for Summer Camp, please know the exact amount of shares that you have/will be using when making your payment. After selecting the “Summer Camp – Scouts” store item in the Troop Shop, please select the “Camp Fee – Scout Shares” drop-down option before adding the item to your cart. Please enter the balance owed (if any) after subtracting your Scout Shares balance from the camp fee. Once at Check Out, please make a note of how many Scout Shares were used in the “Additional Info” section. Then you can proceed with paying the balance (if needed) using your preferred form of payment.

I would like to pay for camp with a personal check. How do I pay this way?

Please write checks to BSA Troop 571. Please write a note in the memo line to include name(s) of Scout(s) and what the payment was for.

Please mail checks to:
Troop 571 Treasurer
1955 213th Ct SE
Sammamish, WA 98075

Important: If you check out with Personal Check as your payment method on the Troop Shop you must mail in your check within a few days after checkout to ensure you keep your spot. We will not hold spots for unpaid Scouts.

When will we learn more details about camp?

We will be hosting a Summer Camp Info Night as we get closer to the event. If your scout is interested in attending camp, we suggest signing up now as spots will fill up fast.

If we sign up and then need to cancel, can we get a refund?

After March 1st, refunds can only be given if the spot can be filled by another scout.

What is the total cost of summer camp this year?

Summer Camp 2024 will cost $868 per scout. This fee includes charter bus transportation to and from camp leaving from Sammamish, the Camp fee, and lunch on the way home.

My scout is currently 10 years old, can we sign them up for camp?

10-year-olds can sign up, as long as the scout is (or planning to be) a registered member of Troop and has completed fifth grade prior to camp.
